Educational objectives

The graduate education department aims to contribute to the academic development of pedagogy and the realization of a learning society by studying the theory and practical methods of pedagogy, cultivating a leadership personality, and cultivating original abilities.

Programs Offered

The major fields of study for master's and doctoral programs are divided into educational psychology, educational philosophy, educational administration, educational counseling, life-long education and educational society, and educational technology and curriculum.

Department Regulations

A. Admission Requirement

  • Even students whose undergraduate and master's courses are not the same are recognized as having completed a department similar to the undergraduate course in pedagogy when obtaining a teacher certificate by completing a teaching course. Matters concerning admission shall be in accordance with the graduate school regulations and bylaws.

    • The number of special admission applicants shall not exceed 80% of the admission quota of the department.
    • The method of special screening shall be document screening and oral examinations of majors.

B. Matter concerning the acquisition of credits

For the number of credits in the master's program, 26 credits (including 2 credits for thesis research) must be completed with two common mandatory subjects and six major and major-related subjects. The number of credits for the doctoral program is 40 credits (including 4 credits for thesis research), and at least 1/2 of the credits must be completed in the relevant major, and the remaining credits are from the adjacent major. Supplementary credits for those who enter the master's program that are not the same as the undergraduate major and those who enter the master's program that are not the same as the master's program shall be at least 24 credits, including alternative credits for the master's program. In terms of supplementary credits, the master's program must be acquired from the undergraduate program, and the doctoral program must be acquired from the master's program, and the previously acquired pedagogy-related credits are recognized as supplementary credits for the relevant major with the approval of the graduate school principal.

C. Matter concerning the comrehensive examination

Qualifications are given to those who have registered for at least one semester in the master's and doctoral courses and integrated courses. The exam is held twice a year in February and August, and both master's and doctoral courses are in English. Foreign language tests are perfect for each subject, regardless of the master's and doctoral courses, and you must score 60 or higher to pass.

D. Matter concerning foreign language tests

The examination will be held twice a year in February and August, with master's courses earning more than 18 credits, two majors, and a Ph.D. course earning more than 27 credits, three majors, and three master's and doctoral integration courses earning more than 45 credits, and 70 points out of 100 points per subject, pass.

E. Requirements for submitting a thesis

In the master's program, the requirement for submitting a thesis shall be those who have completed 24 credits for each major and have passed the foreign language and comprehensive examination. The requirement for submitting a thesis in a doctoral program is that a person who has completed 36 credits and passed the foreign language and comprehensive examination must meet one of the following research results within the semester immediately before the thesis.

  • As the first author, publish a paper in a field related to your major in a 4-year university with a review system or in an academic journal of a local or larger scale (100%).
  • As a co-author, publish a paper in a field related to your major jointly with your advisor in an academic journal listed by the National Research Foundation of Korea or higher (25%).
