Course Registration
Under the guidance of the Advisory Professor and before registering for courses in the applicable semester, students should fully understand the Graduate School of Dong-A University (GSD) academic rules, detailed enforcement regulations and internal rules of each department and carefully consider the course-taking criteria of each department and program.
1. Course registration period
The course registration period will be notified to each department every semester (Students should check the course registration period themselves).
2. Methods
- [Dong-A University Graduate School website → Go to Student Information Service Portal (Log-in) → Course Registration] Students should register for courses by filling in the required fields themselves.
- Print out the course registration confirmation form → Obtain student's signature → Obtain Advisory Professor’s signature → Submit to the Department Office for confirmation (If a student (including freshmen) does not have a designated Advisory Professor, Advisory Professor’s signature may be omitted)
3. Limit of course credits
- student may take 9 credits for master's program, 12 credits for doctoral program, and 9 credits for integrated Ph.D. program per semester. If the GSD President approves, a student may take up to 3 additional credits, including supplementary courses; the Dissertation Research course should be excluded from the total credit counting.
- 9 credits for Master’s program and 12 credits for Doctoral program ⇒ A student should register for the intended courses on on-line computer system.
- Since the supplementary courses, extra credits, courses opened in other departments and undergraduate courses cannot be registered for on the system, students should submit to the Department Office a proper application form to take such courses.
4. Supplementary course
In accordance with Paragraph 1, Article 22 of the University Statutes, those who take a sub-program different from their department (major) must take a supplementary course in such sub-program designated by the Department Chair. In such a case, students should take at least 3 credits for the Master's program and 6 credits for the Doctoral program and such credits should not be added to the total sum of courses completed. Each department may exempt some or all of the supplementary courses, and determine the completion of supplementary courses and the limit of credits with approval of the GSD President in consultation with the faculty.
5. Dissertation Research
Dissertation Research is a curriculum that evaluates the ability of a student to perform a research project suggested by the Advisory Professor. Students must take two credits for the final semester for the Master's program, two credits for the final two semesters for the Doctoral program, and two credits for the final three semesters for the integrated Ph.D. program.
6. Course Cancellation
If a student finds that he or she cannot continue to take the course after the course change/drop period ends, such student may cancel the course with the approval of the professor of the course, Advisory Professor, Department Chair and the President of the Graduate School during the designated period. If a student has canceled a course, he or she may not apply for another course, and the course canceled should not be subject to grading.
- If a student wants to cancel a registered course after the course change/drop period, he or she should submit the course cancellation form in person since course cancellation cannot be done on-line.
7. Differential Payment of Tuition
If a student has registered the minimum number of regular semesters for each program but fails to complete the program, he or she will continue to take courses for the next semester. In such a case, the tuition fees should be paid based on the credits registered for the following semester as follows:
- 1 to 3 credits: Half the amount of the regular tuition of the semester
- 4 credits or more: Full amount of the regular tuition of the semester
