Introduction to the department
The Department of Child Psychology and Counseling learns various factors that can affect children's development and theories and practices related to multiple psychology and counseling approaches that can promote adaptation, applies them to child and family psychology and counseling-related sites, and connects them to research sites to foster creative, challenging, and professional talents who can promote the optimal development and adaptation of various children and support the formation of a healthy family system.

educational objectives

For professional support for children and families, it aims to cultivate professionals who can contribute to the specialized fields related to children's families required by the future society by honing knowledge of basic theories and pathologies in the field of child and adolescent psychology and child family counseling, and by cultivating professionals who have practical skills in psychological diagnosis, evaluation, and counseling.

  • Through practice, discussion, and clinical training, we will cultivate child psychology and counseling professionals who have the knowledge and practical skills required in the field of child psychology and counseling.

  • matters related to admission
    • In principle, it is divided into special and general admissions in accordance with the graduate school admission regulations. However, the selection ratio for special and general admissions is determined by the faculty meeting of the department.
    • Foreign applicants for master's programs should be free to speak Korean or English.
    • Scope of recognition of similar departments: Similar departments in the fields of children's studies and psychology, such as the Department of Children's Studies, the Department of Early Childhood Education, the Department of Child Welfare, the Department of Psychology, the Department of Social Welfare, and the Department of Family Welfare
  • Matters concerning credit completion
    • To acquire credits, at least 26 credits (including 2 credits for thesis research) for master's programs, including majors and common mandatory subjects, must be acquired.
    • To acquire credits, at least 26 credits (including 2 credits for thesis research) for master's Designation of supplementary subjects: Supplementary subjects for students in master's courses from other majors are determined by the faculty meeting of the department, and if similar subjects are completed, they may be recognized according to the decision of the faculty meeting of the department.
  • comprehensive examination The foreign language test is conducted only one English subject, both master's and doctor's.
  • Matters concerning the comprehensive examination Comprehensive examination subjects shall be two master's major subjects: Provided, That comprehensive examination subjects shall be designated by the professor in charge of the department from among the subjects completed during the course
  • Matters concerning submission and examination of thesis
    • Paper Submission Requirements: A person who meets the following requirements may submit a dissertation.
      • The master's course
        • Common: Bylaws on postgraduate degree claims papers
          • Acquisition of 24 credits required for completion (average score of 80 points in all subjects) or more
          • Earn all the credits for completing the specified supplementary course
          • A person who has completed a regular registration of at least four semesters
          • A person who has been guided by a supervisor for at least one semester after submitting a research plan for a dissertation
          • A person who has passed the Foreign Language Examination (English) and Comprehensive Examination (two major subjects)
          • A person who has paid the research tuition only once at the beginning of a semester in which he/she intends to claim the academic qualification after completion
          • A person who has announced a thesis plan in his/her department at least one semester prior to the preliminary examination and main examination
  • Additional information
    • If you have acquired more than 21 credits in the relevant area (more than seven subjects) from the new students in 2022, you can obtain a qualification for the Ministry of Health and Welfare's commissioned developmental rehabilitation voucher service (play psychological rehabilitation area).
    • After 2022, the department applies to the relevant department every two years to confirm the certification of related departments and notify students that it is a department related to human resources providing developmental rehabilitation vouchers entrusted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare
