Departmental Regulations
A. Admission-related matters
- In principle, it is divided into special and general admissions in accordance with the graduate school admission regulations. However, the selection ratio for special and general admissions is determined by the faculty meeting of the department.
- Foreign applicants for master's and doctoral courses should be free to speak Korean.
B. Regulations on credit Requirements
- Credit acquisitionA minimum of 26 credits must be earned in the master’s program, including major and common mandatory subjects as well as 2 credits for thesis research.
A minimum of 40 credits must be earned in the doctoral program, including major and common mandatory subjects and 4 credits for thesis research. - Assignment of Supplementary CoursesSupplementary subjects for master's and doctoral students from other majors are determined by the faculty meeting of the department, and if similar subjects are completed, they can be accredited according to the decision of the faculty meeting of the department.
C. Regulations regarding foreign language examinations
The foreign language exam consists of only one English subject for both the master’s and doctoral programs.
D. Regulations regarding comprehensive examinations
- The comprehensive examination subjects are two master's subjects and three doctoral subjects.
- The subjects for the comprehensive examination are designated by the department chair from among the courses completed during the program.
E. Regulations regarding the submission and evaluation of theses
Thesis Submission Eligibility: Individuals fulfilling the following criteria may submit their thesis.
- Master’s Program
- Common: Internal Rules Regarding Graduate Degree Theses
- A minimum of 24 credits must be earned, with an overall average score of 80 or above across all courses.
- Earn all credits for the assigned supplementary courses.
- A student who has completed at least four semesters of regular enrollment.
- A candidate who has submitted the thesis research proposal and has received supervision from their advisor for at least one semester.
- A candidate who has passed the foreign language exam (English) and the comprehensive examination (two major subjects).
- A candidate who has paid the research registration fee once at the semester start when applying for the degree after completion.
- The thesis proposal must be presented to the department at least one semester prior to the preliminary and final examinations.

- Department Criteria
- Publication requirements for submitting a degree thesis. A minimum of one first or corresponding author presentation at a national or international conference is required for master's thesis evaluation.
- Ph.D. program
- Common: Internal Rules Regarding Graduate Degree Theses
- A minimum of 36 credits (60 for the integrated program) must be completed with an average score of 80 or above.
- Complete all assigned supplementary course credits (however, if the assigned supplementary credits exceed 12, completion of at least 9 credits is required).
- At least 4 semesters of regular enrollment are required (8 semesters for the integrated program).
- A minimum of 2 credits in thesis research is required (4 credits for the integrated program).
- A person who has received guidance from an academic advisor for at least two semesters, has participated in at least one departmental public presentation, and has been recommended by the academic advisor.
- A person who has passed the foreign language examination (English, second language: applicable departments only)
- A person who has passed the comprehensive exam (three major subjects). Research tuition fee shall be paid only once at the beginning of the semester in which a degree is to be claimed after completion.
- At least one semester before the preliminary examination and main examination, the thesis plan must be announced by the department concerned.
- A person who has the prescribed research results determined by the department under the guidance of an advisor after admission.
For Integrated Program Type 2, if a student passes the foreign language exam and the comprehensive exam during the master’s program, the foreign language exam is waived, and passing one additional major subject in the comprehensive exam is required for final approval.
- Department Criteria
- Academic papers must be published 100% or more in journals listed in the Korea Citation Index (KCI), including candidate journals.
- Research Performance Requirements for Degree Application
- Research conducted solely by the student, excluding the academic advisor: 100%
- Main author, corresponding author: 100%
- Joint research on two people: 70%
- Joint research with three authors: 50% credit
- Collaboration of 4 or more people: 30%
Provided, That the presentation of academic conferences is excluded
