Department Regulations

A.Admission information

  • The Master’s Program and the Integrated Master’s and Doctoral Program are open only to full-time graduate students who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • The Doctoral Program is open only to full-time graduate students who hold a master’s degree in a biomedical related field.
  • Applicants to the Master’s or Integrated Master’s and Doctoral Program with a natural science background, or to the Doctoral Program with a master’s degree in a related field (earned or expected), are considered to have a relevant academic background.
  • Applicants participate in an interview related to Medical Science.

B. Academic Credit Requirements

  • Master’s Program: Students enroll for 2 years (4 semesters) and complete at least 26 credits, including 5 required courses and thesis research. Elective courses must include at least one course from 3 of the 4 designated areas, ensuring a well-rounded foundation in Medical Science.
  • Doctoral Program: Students enroll for 2 years (4 semesters) and complete at least 40 credits, including 6 required courses and thesis research. Electives must cover all 4 designated areas. If a required doctoral course was completed during the Master’s Program, an alternative course approved by the advisor must be taken.
  • Integrated Master’s & Doctoral Program: Students enroll for 4 years (8 semesters) and complete at least 66 credits, including 8 required courses and thesis research. Electives must cover all 4 designated areas, providing comprehensive training across Medical Science disciplines.

C. Foreign Language Examination

The foreign language exam follows the Graduate School regulations. Doctoral students are not required to take a second foreign language.

D. Comprehensive Examination

For the Master’s, Doctoral, and Integrated Master’s & Doctoral Programs, the Head of the Department sets the comprehensive exam subjects based on the student’s supervisor’s recommendation.
